Armistice Assembly

On Thursday 11 November, we held a whole-school assembly to commemorate the Armistice of WW1. Our pupils professionally and sensitively observed this important presentation, which included:

  • A talk delivered by Dr Harrison, Subject Lead for History, on the origins and impact of WW1
  • An explanation by Mr Green, Deputy Headteacher, on the symbolism of the poppy
  • The school act of remembrance - a recital of the poem “A Soldier’s Cemetery” delivered by Head Prefect Fianne and the playing of the “Last Post”, followed by a one-minute silence.

We were pleased to have been able to hold this very moving ceremony once again after last year’s restrictions on social gatherings. We have shared some photos from the assembly on Facebook. Lest we forget.
