Art class trip to the V&A 

The galleries and museums have reopened, and as part of the school's bridging project, Design Technology and Art A-Level students visited the Victoria and Albert Museum on Thursday 17 June.
 
The visit started in the Architecture galleries to look at drawing and model making, before moving to ceramics, where our school's Artist in Residence Mr Manthorp highlighted some key exhibits and explained some of the processes involved.
 
Afterwards pupils were engaged in the furniture galleries, where the different styles of period chairs they saw really supported their learning. It was a great way to end the study of Design and Technology and Art, and develop research skills in a museum or gallery setting.
 
One of the highlights was having the layering and processes used on Grayson Perry's pots explained in detail, as seen in the photo below.
