Careers presentations for Westminster STEAM Week

Westminster STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Maths) Week took place this week, and MBS was fortunate to secure guest presenters from two leading London film studios. Our boys learned about the range of careers within this fast growing industry and how the combined knowledge and skills across STEAM subjects are essential to succeed in this field.

•    Blue Zoo, a UK based computer animation studio, visited on Monday, enabling Year 7 students to explore how animation requires knowledge in visual arts, coding, biology and physics to produce some of the most well-loved children's shows on TV, such Mac And Izzy, as well as captivating commercials and animations for the likes of LEGO, Just Eat, Costa and Southampton FC.

•    On Wednesday, Framestore, a BAFTA and Oscar-awarding winning global creative studio that offers a range of visual effects, production and post-production services, gave the Year 8 students insight into how the complex interaction of disciplines from drawing, lighting effects, materials, anatomy and an understanding of velocity and environments all combine in their exceptional visual effects. Their projects include the Harry Potter films, Fantastic Beasts, Avengers: End Game, Black Mirror and Guardians of the Galaxy.
