On the evening of Wednesday 19 December we opened our doors to parents and families to host the annual Christmas Concert in the Main Hall. We were excited that our new school could host the concert for our very first Christmas.
The programme consisted of a variety of musical acts including the orchestra, the Year 9 band (better known as Radio Therapy), the school choir, jazz band and not forgetting our West African Drumming Group.
The night included joyful renditions of Christmas music, arranged especially for the evening by our music teacher Ms McGill Wright and our dedicated Music Peri Teachers.
Some highlights of the evening were the solo verse of ‘Once in Royal David’s City’ sung by Milo in Year 8 accompanied by the orchestra, the Year 9 band’s exciting arrangement of ‘Last Christmas’, the fun and cheeky rendition of ‘Zat You Santa Claus?’ by the choir, and the energetic but also hypnotic sound created by our djembe drummers in their rendition of ‘Nyabinghi & Finsan’.
A special mention must go to the very entertaining double act, Toma and Abdallah, who were our Master of Ceremonies for the evening. They added to the musical celebration by bringing some comedic festive cheer to the audience in between each performance.
It was a wonderfully festive evening enjoyed by staff, students and parents. Thank you to all who attended and well done to all our very talented performers, which included students and staff.
A special thank you must go to Ms MsGill Wright for organising such a festive, uplifting concert which marked the end of our first term perfectly.
