We are running a creative writing competition in the run up to World Book Day (Thursday 7th March). Students have been invited to write a short story or poem which is up to 150 words long. Students have been intrigued by the challenge of fitting a whole story into just 150 words and we have had fun in literacy lessons reading a range of 150-word stories that have been produced by other authors.
All entries should be submitted to an English Teacher by the 7th March (World Book Day!). The winner will then be announced and will receive a prize. We hope to be sharing some of the entries with you in the coming weeks. We look forward to seeing the creativity of our students come to life in the form of the written word!
Over the half-term break, pupils in KS3 were challenged to read as many books as they could, and take the Accelerated Reader quizzes for each book they read.
Congratulations to the winners:
Year 7: Szymon G
Year 8: John CM
Year 9: Dylan PE
Students are expected to be reading for 20 minutes a day at home and, once they have finished a book, to be taking the related quiz on Accelerated Reader. The quiz shows them (and us) that they have read it properly and shows them how many words they have read! Happy reading!
