At MBS, we are committed to providing our students with the knowledge, skills and attributes needed to manage their lives, now and in the future, as well-rounded citizens. We deliver a responsive, broad and balanced PSHCE curriculum through three core strands: Relationships and Sex Education (RSE), Health Education and Living in the Wider World. We believe these are essential in helping our young people stay healthy and safe, learn about the values that make us all a part of one community and to prepare them to embrace the challenges of a happy and successful school and adult life. Most importantly, our students feel confident in making informed decisions about their wellbeing and life opportunities.
Our Relationships and Sex Education (RSE) focuses on learning about the emotional, social and physical aspects of growing up, sexuality and sexual health. We promote tolerance as key to understanding sexual identity and living harmoniously in a diverse society.
Our PSHCE lessons are delivered twice a week in addition to specific elements taught in the academic curriculum, school assemblies and in collaboration with external providers through set piece events. The PSHCE scheme of learning can be found at the attached link. It includes an overview for whole curriculum (Key Stage 3-5) and a more detailed breakdown of each topic taught in each half term. Students' progress in PSHCE will be communicated to parents through the normal school reports for Keys Stage 3 and 4.
