Since February, the members of our Science Club have been working with volunteers from Mitsubishi Hitachi Power Systems Europe on a series of practical and interactive projects for boys in Years 7 - 10. The report below by Milo in Year 8 details the final presentation event, during which the pupils presented their project to senior executives, including the Engineering Director and HR team, at the company’s head office in Paddington.
“On Tuesday 30th April, around 16 pupils from Year 7-10 went on a fantastic trip to the MHPS (Mitsubishi Hitachi Power Systems Europe) Headquarters in Paddington and learnt how many different opportunities existed on our doorstep. After 2 months of hard work testing cars down ramps and even building our own solar cars, we finally went to the MHPS Headquarters in Paddington. Upon arrival, we received our own entrance card. Some of us even had the privilege of taking a glass lift up to the 3rd floor, being able to see the rest of the magnificent building from the inside.
After seeing their reception, we were able to present our work to some of the employees of MHPS. The view from the presentation room was amazing. After a refreshment break, the MHPS team revealed some of their jobs and showed us their new environmentally friendly hydrogen turbine! Next, we went back down a lift and back to the entrance and were surprised that we could keep our entrance cards. What a wonderful evening!”
