Special ceremony marks official start to school construction

The future and permanent home for Marylebone Boys’ School has entered an exciting stage, as construction has now officially commenced on the development site of our school in Paddington.

Mr Ardron, Headteacher of MBS, visited the site last week along with two Year 9 pupils, Hashim and Leon, for a special ceremony to mark the official start of the construction project. Also visiting the site were Mrs Sarah Clifford, Chair of Governors, and Mrs Antonia Cox, Vice Chair of Governors.

Construction has been underway for some months, however this event was an opportunity for key stakeholders involved in the project to view the site together and to have their photos taken for the media.

The construction of our school is part of Westminster City Council’s regeneration project of North Wharf Road in the Paddington Basin area, which when complete, will offer nearly 200 affordable homes, modern community spaces, and overall improvements to the neighbourhood.

Also attending the special press event were senior figures including Cllr Nickie Aiken, Leader of Westminster City Council, Cllr Rachael Robathan, Cabinet Member for Housing at Westminster City Council, and representatives from Willmott Dixon, the construction company responsible for the regeneration of the site.

We now very much look forward to seeing our permanent home develop stage by stage, as the countdown has now officially begun.
