Student Leaders trip to Hammerson PLC

On Wednesday, the school’s Student Leaders were invited to Hammerson, a global real estate business in Marble Arch, for the second of a series of trips.

The boys were involved in three workshops to further develop their leadership skills. The first, led by Hammerson's Group Head of Insight, the Head of Environmental, Social & Governance and the Technology Director was on the six types of leaders that Hammerson have recently explored during previous workshops with our boys. The group identified what kind of leaders they are, and which type of leader would be challenging for them to be. The boys learnt that sometimes one needs to adjust their leadership style depending on the situation.

The second workshop was around communication - a key skill for all leaders. This was led by the HR Manager and the Asset Management Director. The boys learned how to communicate an idea using the acronym OFRE - Opinion, Fact, Reasoning and Example and workshopped putting this into practice preparing for a presentation to the Senior Leadership Team back at school.

The last workshop covered the invaluable skill of project management, and the boys learned the different aspects of project timings, stakeholders and delivery methods. The session also covered troubleshooting and allocating enough time to each phase in order to deliver a project timeously and effectively. The Head of ESG and Assistant Company Secretary led this workshop. The boys were interested to see the impact all stakeholders have on projects and how they need to be involved in every phase.

Hammerson staff praised the leadership group as being bright, engaged and a credit to our school.  Thank you to Hammerson for hosting and Mr Gunn and Ms Zwan for accompanying the boys.
