Uniform - hair and shoes

Our pupils have done us proud this term with their smart appearance and presentation, but we are aware that some parents would like some clarification on the specifics of the uniform, haircuts and general appearance.

Shoes

It has come to our attention that some boys are wearing ‘trainer-like shoes’ sold by Clarks and other shoe stores which are marketed as ‘school shoes’. Marylebone Boys’ School does not consider these ‘formal leather shoes’ as indicated by the uniform policy. Here are some examples of what would be considered appropriate and inappropriate:

Appropriate School Shoes  YES

Inappropriate School Shoes  NO

Velcro shoes are appropriate but only in a smart, non-trainer style. YES

These material on these shoes and style make these too informal for school  NO

We do not require your son to change his shoes immediately if they are not formal shoes, but we would expect them to be replaced the next time you have to buy shoes.

Hair & appearance

The School Leadership Team has the final decision on the suitability of hairstyles in school. We ask that boys wear hair that is smart, professional and appropriate to a work setting.

The school will not accept the following:

  • Shaved lines or markings in hair
  • Shaved lines in eyebrows
  • Any piercings, e.g. no earrings
