Our Year 9 artists had a fantastic time at The Wallace Collection last week. They were toured around the gallery by an art historian who explained how to decipher and decode information from some of the paintings in the collection. The pupils have been looking at Dutch Vanitas painting at school this term and they were able to put their knowledge into action as they were asked to present their interpretations of particular works in the collection.
The students did a great job, particularly Adam A with his fantastic interpretations of light in 'The Lace Maker' by Caspar Netscher. He was even approached by a fellow visitor at the gallery who was amazed by his enlightening ideas! A great day, despite the rain, and we cannot wait for our next workshop.
